Not long exposures! It’s bare neon tubes… you can see the wires, shadows, etc.

What I’m wondering is: how many 3d shapes did they need? The letter “M” could also be used for W, S, V, O, E, K, A, B, C, etc etc.. there may only be one (1) 3d shape!?! or maybe 2-3 Either way it’s pretty.

For anyone who’s curious about Charley’s books, there’s another one that featured many of his images, entitled Beguiled by the Wild. Birds & Words includes his bird illustrations and funny, punny captions. There’s also the recently released ABC book, which collects many of his animal illustrations from different projects into the familiar ABC format.
