It was a beautiful day in Madison Square Park, so I decided to take a stroll and photograph what I saw. Check out the modernist painted sculptures and flowers; they definitely enhance the experience of taking that midday break to hang out or eat.

This is a great community art project! 

I tied a disposable camera to a bench with a sign that read:

Good afternoon,
I attached this camera to the bench so you could take pictures. Seriously. So have fun. I’ll be back later this evening to pick it up.

When I retrieved the camera that night, I was happy to find that the entire roll of film had been shot. Below are the photos that were taken.

In 1979 Fritz Scholder published Indian Kitsch; documenting the use of weighty American Indian symbols in poor taste. Symbolically speaking, this “kitsch” wasn’t kicking ’em when they’re down; it was kicking them down and then spitting on ’em.
